Mirza Abbas: “If Ziaur Rahman Were Alive, Israel Wouldn’t Dare Attack Palestinians”
Senior BNP leader Mirza Abbas has claimed that Israel would not have had the audacity to carry out its recent attacks on Palestinians if former President and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman were still alive.
Speaking at a rally organized by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Thursday (April 10) in solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine, Abbas said, “Israel’s aggression goes beyond Palestine — it aims to wipe out Muslims worldwide. Yet, the leaders of the Muslim world remain silent spectators.”
He noted that the brutal images emerging from Palestine on social media are unbearable to witness. “During the Iran-Iraq war, Ziaur Rahman played an active role. Had he been alive today, he would have taken meaningful steps in support of the Palestinian people. Israel would have thought twice before unleashing such violence,” Abbas added.
UN Inaction and Regional Silence Criticized
Abbas also criticized the United Nations for its failure to act decisively. “If the UN continues to remain ineffective, the oppression will not stop. Israel is systematically working to eliminate Muslims,” he said.
He further alleged that not only Israel but neighboring countries are also involved in the persecution of Muslims. “Unfortunately, our government does not raise its voice against these injustices,” he remarked.
Goyeshwar Chandra Roy: “BNP Stands for Justice and Humanity”
BNP Standing Committee Member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, also present at the rally, echoed similar sentiments. “The BNP has always stood for justice and human rights. Yet, we’ve heard nothing from the interim government regarding the ongoing situation in Palestine,” he said.
Roy criticized the silence of many self-proclaimed civil society members and pointed out that divisions within the Muslim world are allowing Israel’s aggression to continue. “India has formal relations with Israel, as does the United States. But here at home, it seems everyone is more focused on keeping BNP out of power than standing up for Palestine,” he added.
