Primary and Mass Education Affairs Advisor Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder has announced that 93 percent of teaching appointments in government primary schools will be based on merit.

Speaking at a discussion with divisional officials at the Khulna Divisional Commissioner’s office on Sunday, the advisor said the initiative was aimed at reducing reliance on preferential quotas.

Highlighting the importance of pre-service training in improving the quality of teaching, Bidhan underscored the pressing need to increase the budget for primary education.

According to the ‘Primary School Teacher Recruitment Rules-2019’, 60 percent of the total teaching vacant posts in government primary schools will be allocated to women, 20 percent to men, and remaining 20 percent to preferential quotas.
