Lauren Dreyer of SpaceX meets Dr. Muhammad Yunus; PayPal integration discussed for Bangladesh operations
Lauren Dreyer, Vice President of Global Engagement at SpaceX, met with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on April 23, during the Earthna Summit held in Doha, Qatar. Among the key topics of their discussion was the potential integration of PayPal to facilitate digital transactions for SpaceX’s upcoming operations in Bangladesh.
Dreyer, who has worked with Elon Musk for over two decades, noted that PayPal — another Musk-founded venture — could serve as a useful tool in supporting SpaceX’s digital financial activities in the country. “From the start, this has been one of the most organized and efficient initiatives we’ve worked on,” she remarked.
The meeting also focused on final-stage preparations to launch SpaceX satellite services in Bangladesh. Dreyer expressed confidence in the partnership’s progress and revealed that her team has been instructed to be ready for a technical launch by May.
Dr. Yunus shared the growing anticipation among the Bangladeshi public regarding the development. “This is big news in Bangladesh. People are counting down the days,” he said. “When the moment comes, it must be celebrated on a grand scale.”
The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman, and SDG Affairs Principal Coordinator Lamiya Morshed
