Resistance Front Rejects Allegations of Involvement in Pahalgam Attack, Blames India for Disinformation

The Resistance Front (TRF), an armed group operating in Jammu and Kashmir, has denied any involvement in the recent Pahalgam attack that killed at least 26 people, pushing back against widespread reports suggesting otherwise.

In a statement issued to the media today (26 April), TRF said, “Any attribution of this act to TRF is false, hasty, and part of an orchestrated campaign to malign the Kashmiri resistance.”

The group further accused Indian intelligence agencies of deliberately spreading misinformation. “Shortly after the attack in Pahalgam, a brief and unauthorised message was posted from one of our digital platforms. After an internal audit, we believe this was the result of a coordinated cyber intrusion — a familiar tactic used in the Indian state’s digital warfare arsenal,” TRF claimed, as reported by The Hindu.

The Pahalgam attack has triggered a series of sharp diplomatic responses from India towards Pakistan. India announced the suspension of the 65-year-old Indus Waters Treaty and closed the Attari land-border crossing. Additionally, Indian authorities ordered all Pakistani nationals who entered through the Attari border to leave the country by 1 May and expelled Pakistani military attachés.

In retaliation, Pakistan termed the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty an “act of war” and responded by closing its airspace to all Indian airlines.

Indian security forces were seen escorting ambulances carrying the bodies of tourists who lost their lives in the tragic incident, a stark image of the ongoing tensions in the region.
