Weather experts warn of intensifying heat across multiple regions, urging caution against heatstroke
A fresh wave of intense heat is sweeping across Bangladesh, with meteorologists warning that temperatures in several districts could rise close to, or even reach, 40°C in the coming days.
According to forecasts shared by the Bangladesh Weather Observation Team, mild heatwave conditions observed in recent days are expected to intensify into moderate levels between April 22 and April 25 or 26. Regions under Khulna Division, Rajshahi Division, Barishal Division, and Dhaka Division are likely to be the most affected.
Several districts, including Rajshahi, Pabna, Jashore, Khulna, Barishal, and surrounding areas, may experience daytime temperatures ranging between 36°C and 39°C. In some isolated locations, particularly in Khulna and Rajshahi divisions, temperatures could briefly climb to around 40°C.
The ongoing heatwave has already caused discomfort across the country, with many residents struggling to cope with the rising temperatures. Health experts warn that prolonged exposure to extreme heat significantly increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heatstroke.
Authorities and weather analysts are advising people to take precautionary measures, especially during peak heat hours. Individuals are encouraged to avoid direct sunlight between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM, stay hydrated, and remain in cool or shaded environments whenever possible.
As the heatwave intensifies, officials continue to monitor the situation closely, urging the public to remain alert and prioritize health and safety during this period of extreme weather.
