Bangladesh’s Najmun Nahar Makes Historic Journey Across 184 Countries

Najmun Nahar becomes the first Bangladeshi to visit 184 countries, a pioneering achievement for both Bangladesh and Muslim women travellers.

In a remarkable milestone for Bangladesh, Najmun Nahar has become the first Bangladeshi woman to visit 184 countries, joining a select group of pioneering Muslim women travellers worldwide. She achieved this feat during her recent visit to the Bahamas, where she was formally congratulated by the country’s First Lady, Patricia Minnis, in recognition of her exceptional achievement.

Najmun Nahar's latest travel phase, spanning from June to December 2025, included stops in multiple regions, such as Samoa, Timor-Leste, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Venezuela, and the Bahamas. By carrying Bangladesh’s red and green flag across continents, she has not only set a national record but also boosted Bangladesh’s global visibility. Her journeys have symbolised courage, perseverance, and cultural representation, inspiring individuals worldwide.

 

Her global exploration began in 2000 through India’s International Adventure Program. Travelling mostly by road, often alone, Najmun faced extreme conditions, security challenges, and life-threatening situations in her pursuit of a world of adventure and exploration.

 

Her remarkable story has garnered international media attention, with outlets like Venezuela’s La Nación, WIC News, Timor-Leste’s Suara Timor Lorosa’e, and Portugal’s Lusa covering her journey.

 

Beyond travel, Najmun has used her platform to promote Bangladesh while raising awareness on global issues, including peace-building, environmental conservation, and ending child marriage. She has earned over 50 awards, including the Peace Torch Bearer Award in the United States, and has motivated people globally, especially young individuals, to dream beyond boundaries.

 

Najmun reached significant milestones in her journey, including her 100th country in Zambia and Zimbabwe in June 2018, 150th in São Tomé and Príncipe in October 2021, and 175th in September 2024. Finally, her 184th country was achieved in December 2025.

 

 

Born in Laxmipur, Bangladesh, and educated in Sweden and South Korea, Najmun Nahar has become an inspiration to people around the world as a researcher, motivational speaker, and goodwill ambassador, empowering the next generation to pursue global understanding and ambitions.
