How to Save Food from Wasting

The Chronify

Wasting food is never right. However, without proper storage, food can spoil quickly. Here are some tips to keep your food fresh and prevent it from going bad.

Fruits
Not all fruits should be kept in the fridge. Store apples, oranges, and grapes in the fridge. Keep bananas, mangoes, and papayas at room temperature.

Leftover food
Many people have the habit of keeping leftover food in the fridge for a long time. However, leftovers should never be stored in the fridge for more than three days. Use shallow containers to store leftovers in the fridge.

Spices
Store spices in airtight containers, away from moisture and excessive light.

Herbs
Cut the stems of herbs like mint and coriander before storing them.

Dairy products
Keep milk, cheese, yogurt, and other dairy items in the fridge. Avoid placing them in the fridge door, as the temperature there fluctuates.

Bread
It’s not advisable to keep bread in the fridge for too long. If you need to store it for a longer time, use the freezer. Always check the expiration date on the package and consume it within that period.

Check occasionally
Regularly check the fruits, vegetables, and food stored in the fridge. If anything has spoiled, remove it immediately.
