Stockholm, Sweden – The prestigious Nobel Prizes for 2025 have been awarded in multiple categories, recognizing groundbreaking achievements across diverse fields. The Nobel ceremonies will take place on December 10, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death.

In the field of Economic Sciences, three economists have been jointly awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize for their research on "creative destruction," a theory about how new technologies drive economic progress by replacing outdated systems. The laureates include Joel Mokyr, 79, a historian at Northwestern University, Philippe Aghion, 69, from the Collège de France and the London School of Economics, and Peter Howitt, 79, a Canadian economist at Brown University. Their work emphasizes the role of innovation in economic growth.

Other Nobel Prizes awarded this year include:

  • Medicine (6 October): Mary E Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell, and Shimon Sakaguchi for their discoveries on regulatory T cells and immune system regulation.

  • Physics (7 October): John Clarke, Michel H Devoret, and John M Martinis for their contributions to quantum tunneling technology.

  • Chemistry (8 October): Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson, and Omar M Yaghi for developing molecular structures capable of trapping large quantities of gas.

  • Literature (9 October): Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai for his thought-provoking novels exploring apocalyptic themes and the power of art.

  • Peace (10 October): María Corina Machado of Venezuela for her efforts in uniting political opposition groups.

The Nobel Prize ceremonies, except for the Peace Prize awarded in Oslo, will be held in Stockholm on December 10.
