Another Palestinian detainee has died while in Israeli custody, local media reported.

Hassan Issa al-Qasha’leh, a resident of Rahat in the Negev, passed away on Thursday at Beersheba Prison in southern Israel, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa. Al-Qasha’leh had been in detention for over 13 months and was due for release in six months.

The Israeli Prison Service confirmed the death of a Palestinian held under administrative detention but did not disclose his identity. Authorities said a special investigation team had been formed, and the cause of death is still under review.

This incident comes amid growing reports of worsening conditions in Israeli detention facilities. Palestinian human rights organizations have raised concerns about thousands of detainees experiencing harsh conditions, citing alleged systematic violations such as torture, medical neglect, starvation, and physical and sexual abuse.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office warned that policies of isolation, repression, and neglect are severely affecting the health and resilience of prisoners. The office held Israel fully responsible for the safety of detainees and urged immediate legal and humanitarian action to prevent further harm.

According to Palestinian authorities, more than 9,300 Palestinians are currently imprisoned in Israel, including over 50 women and approximately 350 children. These numbers do not include those held in Israeli military camps.
