A Surge in Remittance Inflows: January's First 3 Days Show an Increase Compared to Last Year

In the first three days of January 2026, Bangladesh has received $28.8 million in remittances, averaging $9.6 million per day. This marks an increase compared to the same period last year, when the country received $21 million.

 

The total remittance inflows from July 2025 to January 3, 2026, amount to $1.655 billion, showing an 18.30% increase year-over-year. The Bangladesh Bank's spokesperson, Arif Hossain Khan, confirmed this information on January 4, 2026.

 

Notably, December 2025 saw the second-highest monthly remittance inflow in the country's history, with $322.67 million. November 2025 also recorded significant remittance inflows of $288.95 million. Other recent months, including October, September, August, and July 2025, have similarly seen steady increases in remittance contributions.
 

In the 2024-25 fiscal year, Bangladeshi expatriates sent a record $30.32 billion in remittances, setting the highest annual remittance record in the country’s history.
