Bangladesh Shipping Corporation Reports Record Net Profit of Tk306.56cr

BSC announces plans to acquire 12 new vessels to strengthen commercial fleet

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) has reported a record net profit of Tk306.56 crore for the 2024–25 financial year, marking the highest-ever profit in its 54-year history. The impressive performance was driven by strong operating income and disciplined expenditure management. The figures were shared during BSC’s 48th annual general meeting held in Chattogram on 22 December.

 

BSC Managing Director Commodore Mahmudul Malek revealed that the corporation earned Tk590.98 crore from operations and Tk207.30 crore from other sources, bringing total income to Tk798.28 crore. After accounting for operating and administrative costs, BSC’s net profit surged to Tk306.56 crore, compared to Tk249.69 crore in the previous year.

 

Looking ahead, BSC plans significant fleet expansion. The corporation aims to acquire 12 cellular container vessels to cater to increasing global demand. Six of these vessels are being built with support from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. BSC is also set to acquire 2 crude oil tankers and 2 bulk carrier vessels to enhance energy security and maintain uninterrupted supply chains.
