With Visa-Free Access to Just 37 Countries, Bangladesh Trails Behind North Korea and Palestine
In comparison, North Korea and Palestine share the 94th position, offering visa-free access to 38 destinations. The passport rankings are based on the number of destinations accessible without a prior visa, and the Bangladeshi passport lags behind both in terms of international mobility.
The strongest passport globally for 2026 belongs to Singapore, with access to 192 countries, followed by Japan and South Korea, both at 188 destinations. European countries such as Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland share the third position with visa-free access to 186 countries.
In South Asia, the Maldives holds the region's strongest passport, ranked 52nd globally, with visa-free access to 92 countries, while Bangladesh ranks fifth in the region, ahead of Nepal, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
The Henley Passport Index, a trusted source for global passport rankings, uses data from the International Air Transport Authority and spans 20 years of historical data, covering 199 passports and 227 travel destinations.
