BSF Jawaan Shot at India-Bangladesh Border

A BSF jawaan was critically injured in a gunshot incident at the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura's Dharmanagar region.
An Indian Border Security Force (BSF) jawaan was shot at the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura on December 23, 2025. The incident occurred in the Mahespur area of Dharmanagar in North Tripura. According to reports from BBC Bangla, the injured BSF jawaan, identified as Bipin Kumar, is 35 years old and belongs to the 97th Battalion of the BSF.
The jawaan was initially admitted to Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Hospital in a critical condition. However, due to his worsening condition, he was referred to the GB Hospital in Agartala for further treatment.
Medical Officer of Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Hospital, Proshun Bhattacharjee, stated that the jawaan had sustained two gunshot wounds. Although his condition remained critical, he stabilized after receiving initial medical care. The BSF jawaan is currently being treated at GB Hospital in Agartala.
As of now, no official statement has been issued by the BSF local office or its headquarters in Delhi. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the source of the gunfire directed at the BSF personnel.
