Diplomats stage walkout during Netanyahu’s speech at the UN
As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took the stage to address the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, diplomats from several countries staged a mass walkout.
As Netanyahu took the stage, many delegates quickly exited the hall. Similar to last year, this form of protest was repeated once again.
The mass walkout created long lines along the exits as numerous delegates left simultaneously.
Meanwhile, the U.S. delegation applauded Netanyahu, who stood silently during that moment.
The Brazilian delegation in the hall was seen wearing the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh.
On the first day of the General Assembly’s annual session, all delegates were asked to remain calm before Netanyahu began his speech.
Over the past week, the Palestinian Authority’s mission at the UN had sent letters to various world leaders, calling for a boycott of Netanyahu’s speech and labeling him a “war criminal.”
