Hamas will surrender its weapons only when the Israeli occupation ends

Hamas, the resistance group in the Gaza Strip, will hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority once the Israeli occupation of Gaza ends.
This was stated in a statement by Khalil al-Hayya, head of the armed organization’s negotiating team.
He said, “We only keep weapons because of occupation and aggression. When the occupation ends, these weapons will be handed over to the state.”
According to al-Hayya’s office, by “state” he meant a sovereign and independent State of Palestine.
Khalil al-Hayya also said, “We have accepted the proposal to deploy UN forces in Gaza to monitor the ceasefire and oversee the borders. However, if any international force is deployed solely to disarm Hamas, that will not be accepted.”
Although a ceasefire has been in place in Gaza since October 10, Israel continues to violate it by carrying out attacks in the enclave almost daily, causing casualties every day. On Saturday (December 5), Israeli forces again opened fire on innocent Palestinians, accusing them of crossing the “yellow line.”
Various structures in the eastern region have been damaged by the attacks. Residents are fleeing to other parts of the city in search of safety. On the same day, illegal settlers launched attacks on residents of the West Bank.
Meanwhile, leaders of Muslim-majority countries have opposed a plan to unilaterally open the Rafah border and relocate Palestinians to Egypt. In a joint statement after a conference in Doha, the countries said that according to the Trump-mediated agreement, the Rafah border should be opened from both sides. They also agreed that Palestinians should remain in their own land and rebuild it.
