Saudi mining giant Ma’aden achieves significant growth in gold resources through new discoveries and targeted drilling across four key sites, reinforcing the kingdom’s position in global gold production.
Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) has announced a major expansion of its gold resource portfolio, adding 7.8 million ounces through a combination of new discoveries and targeted drilling across Saudi Arabia. The total additions cover four key areas, including operating mines, early-stage prospects, and newly discovered mineralized zones.
The Mansourah Massarah operation contributed a net increase of three million ounces year-on-year, while the Uruq 20 and Umm As Salam prospects added 1.67 million ounces collectively. Wadi Al Jaww contributed a maiden resource of 3.08 million ounces. These developments highlight the effectiveness of Ma’aden’s advanced drilling programs, which identified new mineralized zones and extended the potential resource envelope at historic sites such as the Mahd gold mine.
Ma’aden also reported promising results from early-stage exploration for base metals, including copper, nickel, and platinum group elements, indicating multi-commodity potential across the Arabian Shield.
Bob Wilt, CEO of Ma’aden, emphasized that the discovery validates the company’s long-term strategy, stating, “The addition of more than seven million ounces demonstrates the scale and ongoing potential of Ma’aden’s gold portfolio. Our assets are growing, directly supporting future cash generation.”
The flagship Mansourah Massarah mine now holds an estimated 10.4 million ounces of gold in 116 million tonnes at 2.8 grams per tonne. Drilling confirms mineralization remains open at depth, with exploration continuing through 2026, ensuring the potential for long-life operations and further growth.
