Teacher Shot by Gunmen in Aligarh; Police Launch Manhunt for Suspects
A tragic incident unfolded on the campus of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Uttar Pradesh, India, where a Muslim teacher, Rao Danish Ali, was shot dead by gunmen on the night of December 24, 2025. Danish Ali, a computer science teacher at the affiliated ABK Union High School, was shot at least three times by two individuals riding a scooter near the university's central library.
Before opening fire, one of the gunmen reportedly taunted Danish Ali, saying, "You still don't recognize me, now you will." Danish was struck in the head, and despite being rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, he was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The university's proctor, Mohammad Wasim Ali, confirmed the fatal shooting and stated that the victim was targeted with a gunshot to the head. Following the incident, police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators, and CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the gunmen.
This murder follows a recent incident in Bihar, India, where a Muslim vendor, Mohammad Athar, was brutally beaten to death by a Hindu mob on December 5. Athar died in a hospital on December 12 from the injuries sustained during the assault.
