A new high-speed rail line has been fully inaugurated in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of southern China. The 201-kilometer-long Nanning–Pingxiang rail line was constructed in two sections: the Nanning–Chongzuo section and the Chongzuo–Pingxiang section.

The recently inaugurated rail line will reduce travel time between the capital Nanning and the county-level city of Pingxiang near the Vietnam border by 70 percent, according to China State Railway Group Company Limited (China Railway).

The Nanning–Chongzuo section was opened in December 2022, cutting travel time between the two cities from 2 hours 36 minutes to just 52 minutes.

With the opening of the 81-kilometer Chongzuo - Pingxiang section, the entire project has been completed. This new section can operate at a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour.

In the initial phase, four pairs of high-speed trains will run on this route every day. The new rail line will provide a direct connection to the national high-speed rail network via the Nanning hub.
