Pakistani Parliament Speaker to Attend Khaleda Zia's Janaza
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, to Pay Last Respects at Dhaka Janaza
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the Speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly, will be attending the janaza (funeral prayer) of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Dhaka on Wednesday, December 31. The news was confirmed by Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, via a social media post on Tuesday, December 30.
Ishaq Dar wrote on X (formerly Twitter), announcing that Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will be present at the janaza of the late Khaleda Zia, a significant figure in Bangladesh’s political history.
Earlier, a source from the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka confirmed that Ishaq Dar will also be arriving in Dhaka on Wednesday to pay his respects at the funeral.
Khaleda Zia, who passed away at 6 AM on Tuesday, December 30, at the age of 80, will be laid to rest beside her late husband, former President Ziaur Rahman, at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar graveyard following the janaza, which will take place at 2 PM at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building.
