Rahul Gandhi Expresses Deep Condolences on Khaleda Zia’s Death
Indian Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi Mourns the Passing of Former Bangladesh Prime Minister
Indian Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has expressed deep sorrow following the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson, Khaleda Zia. In a post on social media on Tuesday (December 30), Gandhi conveyed his condolences, describing Zia’s passing as a significant loss for Bangladesh.
He wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the death of Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia. In her long political career, she played a crucial role in shaping the path of Bangladesh.” Gandhi also extended his heartfelt condolences to her family, supporters, and the people of Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, in a gesture of respect, India’s Foreign Minister, S. Jaishankar, will visit Bangladesh to pay tribute to Khaleda Zia on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Khaleda Zia passed away on Tuesday morning at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka at the age of 80. Her funeral prayer will take place on Wednesday at 2 PM at the South Plaza of the National Parliament, followed by her burial next to the grave of Bangladesh’s first president, Ziaur Rahman.
Several representatives from countries in South and Southeast Asia are also expected to attend the funeral to pay their respects.
