Spain has canceled a third military agreement with Israel, valued at around 207 million euros. According to Israeli media outlet Haaretz, Spain made this decision in light of the ongoing violence in Gaza and mounting international pressure.
At a cabinet meeting held last Tuesday, the Spanish government approved a comprehensive arms embargo against Israel. Under this embargo, all imports and exports of military equipment, defense technology, and related materials with Israel have been completely halted.
Spanish Finance Minister Carlos Cuerpo hailed the move as a significant international development, describing it as “a bold and pioneering step in imposing a full arms embargo on Israel.”
Spain’s decision comes amid growing global condemnation and backlash over Israel’s military offensive in Gaza and the killing of civilians, and it is being seen as an important message on the international stage.
