Trump Administration to Offer $3,000 to Immigrants Voluntarily Leaving the U.S.

The U.S. government will provide $3,000 and free flight tickets to illegal immigrants who voluntarily return to their home countries.
The Trump administration has announced a significant financial incentive for illegal immigrants residing in the United States. Immigrants who voluntarily choose to return to their home countries by the end of this year will receive a financial aid of $3,000, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Monday.
This assistance amount has been tripled from the previous administration’s offer. In addition to the cash support, the government will also provide free flight tickets for immigrants to return to their countries.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristjen Nielsen issued a stern warning, stating, "Illegal immigrants should take advantage of this offer and leave voluntarily. If they fail to do so, we will track them down and arrest them. In that case, they will never be allowed to return to the United States."
Earlier this year, the Trump administration launched an app called "CBP Home," through which immigrants can apply for voluntary departure. Notably, the app was previously used under the Biden administration under the name "CBP One" for legal entry applications.
According to DHS, the average cost for the government to arrest, detain, and forcibly deport an illegal immigrant is around $17,000. In contrast, offering $3,000 to voluntarily return immigrants is a much more cost-effective solution for the government.
When Trump assumed office, he promised to deport 1 million immigrants per year. As of this year, his administration has deported approximately 622,000 immigrants, with plans to intensify the operation starting in 2026. This includes hiring thousands of new agents, constructing new detention centers, and working with private companies to identify illegal immigrants.
