President Erdoğan said the new warship would strengthen Pakistan Navy’s maritime security and operational reach. Leaders from both countries also emphasized the deepening strategic relationship between Ankara and Islamabad.

The Pakistan Navy has taken delivery of its second MILGEM-class warship built by Türkiye under a technology transfer arrangement between the two nations.

PNS Khaibar was commissioned at a ceremony held at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard, attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, according to Pakistan’s military media wing.

In a statement, the Pakistan Navy described the MILGEM vessels as its most advanced surface combatants, featuring modern command-and-control systems, up-to-date weaponry, and sophisticated sensors.

Pakistan and Türkiye signed the contract for four MILGEM-class ships in 2018. Under the agreement, two vessels are being constructed in Türkiye and two in Pakistan. The induction of PNS Khaibar completes the Turkish-built portion of the project.

President Erdoğan said the new warship would strengthen Pakistan Navy’s maritime security and operational reach. Leaders from both countries also emphasized the deepening strategic relationship between Ankara and Islamabad.

Welcoming the Pakistani delegation, President Erdoğan highlighted the enduring friendship between the two countries, rooted in shared history and mutual cooperation, and expressed confidence that these ties would continue to grow.

Recalling the 2018 agreement, Erdoğan noted that the first ship, PNS Babur, was delivered on May 24, 2024. He confirmed that PNS Khaibar has now been handed over after successfully completing all tests and trials.

He added that the third vessel, PNS Bedir, is expected to be delivered by the end of June 2026, while the fourth ship, PNS Tarik, is scheduled for delivery in early 2027.

President Erdoğan concluded by expressing hope that the advanced warships would serve the Pakistan Navy effectively.
