Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, formally began his official responsibilities at Bangabhaban on Tuesday, receiving his first ceremonial Guard of Honour and holding a series of introductory engagements after assuming office.

As part of the official welcome, a smartly dressed contingent of the President Guard Regiment presented the acting president with a Guard of Honour, while a combined military band comprising members of the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force performed the ceremonial welcome tune.

The event marked Hafiz Uddin Ahmad's first official appearance at the presidential residence following his assumption of the responsibilities of acting president.

Following the ceremonial salute, the acting president was welcomed at the Octagonal of Bangabhaban by senior officials, including President's Military Secretary Major General ASM Bahauddin, Public Division Secretary Khan Md Nurul Amin, Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam, and Assistant Military Secretary Brigadier General Mohammad Raisul Islam. The officials greeted him with floral bouquets as part of the formal reception.

During his initial engagements, the President's Military Secretary and the Public Division Secretary briefed the acting president on the administration, operational responsibilities and day-to-day functions of Bangabhaban. The briefing provided an overview of the presidential residence's official activities and administrative framework as he assumed his new responsibilities.

The ceremony reflects the constitutional transition of responsibilities at the highest office of the state and marks the beginning of Hafiz Uddin Ahmad's official tenure as acting president.

Officials said the acting president is expected to carry out constitutional duties while maintaining the continuity of state functions from Bangabhaban. His first day in office focused on ceremonial protocol, introductions with senior officials and administrative briefings before undertaking further official engagements in the coming days.
