11 suspects have been arrested, with six giving confessional statements under Section 164 of the CrPC.

The charge sheet in the high-profile murder case of Inqilab Mancho spokesperson and July Uprising frontline fighter Sharif Osman bin Hadi will be submitted to court on Wednesday, 26 days after his killing.

Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said the investigation has reached its final stage. The case will then be transferred to a speedy trial tribunal to ensure justice within the interim government’s tenure.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner SN Md Nazrul Islam confirmed that 11 suspects have been arrested, with six giving confessional statements under Section 164 of the CrPC.

The arrested include the alleged mastermind Faisal Karim Masud’s family members—father Humayun Kabir, mother Hasi Begum, wife Shaheda Parvin Samia, brother-in-law Wahid Ahmed Shipu, and alleged girlfriend Maria Akter Lima—as well as Md Kabir, Nuruzzaman Nomani alias Ujjal, Sibion Dio, Sanjoy Chisim, Aminul Islam Raju, and Abdul Hannan.

Police said the murder was premeditated, and Faisal Karim Masud and an accomplice reportedly fled to India through Mymensingh. Investigators have recovered two foreign pistols, 52 rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, fake number plates, and cheques totaling Tk 218 crore linked to 53 bank accounts.

DMP Detective Branch Additional Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said several others involved have been identified, but their names cannot yet be disclosed. Authorities believe the killing was politically motivated.

Hadi was shot on December 12 around 2:20 pm on Bijoynagar Box Culvert Road under Paltan Police Station while heading toward Suhrawardy Udyan after a campaign from Motijheel Mosque. Critically injured, he was treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Evercare Hospital before being flown to Singapore, where he died on December 18 at Singapore General Hospital.

Following the attack, Inquilab Mancho filed a case on December 14. After Hadi’s death, the police added Section 302 (murder) to the case on December 20.
