The Election Commission (EC) is scheduled to make a decision on Sunday regarding the inclusion of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his daughter, Jaimah, in the national voter list ahead of the 2026 general elections. According to EC officials, there are no legal obstacles preventing Tarique Rahman from being registered as a voter under the current law, and the necessary preparations are underway to complete the required formalities after his return to Bangladesh.
This decision comes as Tarique Rahman, who has been living abroad for several years, seeks to re-enter the political arena ahead of the upcoming elections. Officials stated that his registration process is progressing smoothly, and the final determination will be made after the EC reviews all the necessary documents and criteria.
