Awami League Leader's Health Deteriorates, Responding to Treatment Amid Critical Condition
Obaidul Quader, the general secretary of the now-banned Awami League, has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in Kolkata after his health significantly worsened on January 2. According to hospital sources, Quader is currently on ventilation but is responding to treatment, though his condition remains critical.
Quader, who has been dealing with several age-related health issues, had been receiving oxygen support at his residence in Kolkata before his hospitalization. He left Bangladesh in November 2024, following the July mass uprising and the fall of the Awami League government. In a BBC Bangla interview last year, Quader revealed that he had been staying in Kolkata since his departure from Bangladesh.
His hospitalization has raised concerns, and the political landscape remains uncertain regarding his health and future role in Bangladeshi politics.
