Announces Plans to Campaign for Political Change, Emphasizing Integrity and Community Support

Dr. Tasnim Jara, Senior Joint Secretary of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has officially announced her decision to run as an independent candidate for the Dhaka-9 constituency in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Although she has not clearly stated whether she has resigned from the NCP, she made it clear that she will not be affiliated with any political party during this election.

In a post on her verified Facebook page on Saturday evening (December 27), Jara shared her personal connection to the area, stating that she was born and raised in Khilgaon and had always dreamed of serving the people of her locality through a political platform. However, due to the current political landscape, she has chosen to contest independently, aiming to build a new political culture and keep her promises of honesty and transparency.

Jara also addressed the challenges she would face as an independent candidate, highlighting the absence of party resources such as local offices, organized workers, and political backing. She expressed that her only hope is the support of the people, assuring her commitment to serve with sincerity and determination.

In her post, Jara detailed the legal requirement of collecting signatures from 4,693 voters in Dhaka-9 as part of her independent candidacy, calling for volunteers to help with this effort. Additionally, she reassured her supporters who had previously donated for her campaign that they could request refunds if they wished due to her decision to run independently.
