Tight Security at National Memorial Ahead of Tarique Rahman's Visit

Public Entry Suspended, Law Enforcement Agencies on High Alert in Savar
Strict security measures have been enforced at the National Memorial in Savar, Dhaka, in preparation for the planned visit of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. The entire memorial complex has been placed under tight security, with personnel from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police, and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) deployed across the area.
Entry for the general public was halted from early morning, and journalists were allowed to enter only until 9am. From around 9:30am, access to the memorial premises was completely restricted. Law enforcement personnel have been stationed at key points, including the main gate and along adjacent roads, maintaining heightened vigilance.
BNP leaders and activists have started gathering in front of the memorial in anticipation of Tarique Rahman's arrival. They are currently stationed in front of the memorial’s main gate.
Anwar Hossain Khan Anu, in charge of the National Martyrs' Memorial, confirmed that public entry had been suspended. He added that the Chairperson Security Force (CSF) will oversee the security arrangements, and the memorial will reopen to the public once Tarique Rahman has departed, expected around 3pm.
