Iranian Parliament Speaker dismisses US President’s remarks on negotiations and Strait of Hormuz situation
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has strongly rejected recent statements made by former US President Donald Trump regarding negotiations with Iran, describing them as false and misleading.
In a post shared on social media platform X, Ghalibaf claimed that Trump made seven separate assertions within an hour, all of which he labelled as “lies.” He argued that such statements neither help in achieving military success nor produce any meaningful diplomatic outcome.
Ghalibaf further commented on the strategic Strait of Hormuz, stating that if sanctions and pressure continue, the waterway will not remain freely accessible under existing conditions. He emphasized that its operation would follow regulated routes and be subject to Iran’s approval, rather than external declarations.
According to him, decisions regarding the Strait of Hormuz are based on real-world security conditions and not social media narratives. He also noted that information warfare and media influence are key components of ongoing geopolitical tensions, but insisted that the Iranian public would not be misled by such tactics.
The Iranian speaker added that accurate details about recent diplomatic discussions should be obtained directly from Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, rather than foreign political statements.
Ghalibaf has also recently been involved in regional diplomatic discussions, including talks held in Islamabad, where he led the Iranian delegation in mediated negotiations.
