A US-based Sikh organisation has announced a reward of Tk 55 lakh for information leading to the identification and arrest of those responsible for the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi. The announcement follows claims that the suspects fled Bangladesh and took shelter in India.
The US-based Sikh organisation Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has announced a Tk 55 lakh reward for credible information leading to the identification, arrest, and extradition of the killers of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha.
The reward was announced in a statement issued on Monday, shortly after the Dhaka Metropolitan Police said that those involved in Hadi’s murder had fled Bangladesh and taken refuge in India.
In the statement, SFJ General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun alleged that the killing of Osman Hadi was part of what he described as a cross-border campaign of violence and claimed involvement of India’s government. He alleged that the nature of the killing bore similarities to the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.
SFJ said the reward aims to encourage members of the public to come forward with reliable information that could help law enforcement agencies locate the suspects, facilitate their arrest, and initiate extradition proceedings.
The organisation further claimed that India’s intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) was involved in the killing and called for international accountability. Indian authorities have not responded to the allegations, and the claims could not be independently verified.
Investigations into the murder of Osman Hadi are ongoing, with Bangladeshi law enforcement agencies continuing efforts to trace and apprehend those responsible.
