Police have arrested the husband of actress Asma Jhilik after her family alleged that he pushed her from the eighth floor of a hospital in Dhaka during a domestic dispute. Authorities say the exact circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.

Bangladeshi actress Asma Jhilik died after falling from the eighth floor of a private hospital in Dhaka's Dhanmondi area, prompting police to arrest her husband following allegations from the victim's family that she was pushed during a domestic altercation.

The incident took place on Thursday afternoon at Bangladesh Medical College Hospital, where Jhilik sustained fatal injuries after falling from the upper floor of the building.

According to police, the actress's family has accused her husband, Saifullah, of being responsible for her death. Based on a formal complaint filed by the family, law enforcement authorities arrested him and later produced him before a court.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Dhanmondi Division) Saddam Hossain confirmed the arrest, stating that legal action had been initiated following the family's allegations.

"The husband has been arrested after the family filed a case. He has been sent to jail through the court," the police official said.

He added that investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and cautioned against drawing premature conclusions.

"The matter is under investigation. An autopsy has been conducted, and the exact cause of death will be known once the post-mortem report is received," he said.

Police officials noted that it remains unclear at this stage whether the actress died as a result of an intentional act, an accidental fall, or any other circumstances. Authorities say the findings of the forensic examination and the ongoing investigation will play a crucial role in determining what happened in the moments leading up to her death.

The victim's younger brother, Mozammel Haque, filed a murder case with Dhanmondi Police Station, alleging that Saifullah pushed Jhilik from the hospital's eighth floor during a domestic dispute. Following the filing of the case, police formally arrested the accused and sent him to jail under a court order pending further legal proceedings.

Asma Jhilik was a familiar face in Bangladesh's entertainment industry. She appeared in a number of television dramas and films, earning recognition among audiences for her performances. She was also featured in the Dhallywood film "Rangbaz," which starred popular actor Shakib Khan.

News of her sudden death has sent shockwaves through the country's entertainment community, with fans and colleagues expressing grief and calling for a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation while the investigation remains ongoing. Police say witness statements, available evidence, forensic findings, and the post-mortem report will be reviewed carefully before any conclusions are reached.

The tragic death of the actress has once again drawn attention to concerns surrounding domestic disputes and the importance of ensuring a transparent legal process in cases involving suspicious deaths.

Investigators are expected to provide further updates as the inquiry progresses and additional evidence becomes available.
