BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to visit the party’s Naya Paltan central office on Monday afternoon. It will be his first visit to the BNP headquarters since returning home after nearly 17 years in exile.
Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), is scheduled to visit the party’s Naya Paltan central office on Monday afternoon, marking his first appearance at the BNP headquarters since returning to Bangladesh.
BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan said Tarique Rahman is expected to arrive at the Naya Paltan office later in the day. Security has been tightened in and around the premises ahead of the visit. The main gate of the office was closed at 12:35pm, with entry restricted to senior BNP leaders only.
This will be Tarique Rahman’s first visit to the BNP central office since his return to the country on December 25, ending nearly 17 years of exile in London.
Earlier on Sunday, Tarique Rahman visited the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office at around 1:40pm, where he stayed for nearly nine hours. During the visit, he signed party nomination papers and held several meetings related to organisational and political affairs.
Like the Gulshan office, a separate chamber has been prepared for the acting chairman at the Naya Paltan central office. Both offices have recently been renovated, cleaned, and decorated in preparation for his return.
In addition, the BNP has rented a four-storey building on Road No. 90 in Gulshan to serve as an election office ahead of the upcoming polls. The facility includes enhanced security, a briefing room, departmental seating arrangements, and a research cell, and will function as a coordination centre for election-related activities.
Tarique Rahman’s return to Bangladesh has generated widespread attention and strong reactions among BNP leaders, activists, and supporters nationwide, as the party prepares for the next phase of its political and electoral activities.
