Bangladesh Receives Over $1.5 Billion Remittance in First 13 Days of 2026

Significant Increase in Remittance Flow as Compared to Last Year
Bangladesh has received a remarkable $1.59 billion in remittances during the first 13 days of January 2026, signaling a strong start to the year. The figure, amounting to 15,910 crore taka, reflects an average daily inflow of $12.24 million. According to the Bangladesh Bank, this marks an impressive increase from the same period last year, which saw $926 million in remittances.
On January 13 alone, expatriates sent $131 million, further boosting the country’s foreign exchange reserves. From July to January 13, a total of $1.78 billion has been sent, reflecting a 21.5% year-on-year increase.
Last December saw the highest monthly remittance of the current fiscal year, with $322.67 million arriving in the country, making it the second-highest monthly remittance in Bangladesh’s history. Previous months also showed consistent remittance growth, with $288.95 million in November and $256.34 million in October.
In the 2024-2025 fiscal year, Bangladesh set a historic record by receiving $30.32 billion in remittances, the highest in the country's history.
