Gold Price Increases Again in Bangladesh
The Chronify
Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announces an increase in gold prices, effective from January 11. The price of 22-carat gold reaches a record high.
In a recent decision by the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS), the price of gold has been raised by Tk 1,050 per vori. From Sunday, January 11, the price of 22-carat gold per vori will be set at Tk 227,856. This price hike comes after an increase in the local market price of pure gold (Tejabi Gold), prompting the association to adjust the gold prices accordingly.
The new prices, effective from Sunday, are as follows:
-
22-carat gold: Tk 227,856 per vori (11.664 grams)
-
-
21-carat gold: Tk 217,534 per vori
-
-
18-carat gold: Tk 186,449 per vori
-
-
Traditional gold: Tk 155,423 per vori
-
According to BAJUS, the government-mandated 5% VAT and a minimum 6% labor charge must also be added to the gold selling price. However, the labor charge may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewelry.
Earlier, on January 8, BAJUS had previously reduced gold prices by Tk 1,050 per vori, setting 22-carat gold at Tk 226,806 per vori. In total, this year marks the fifth adjustment to gold prices, with three price hikes and two reductions.
In 2025, the country witnessed a record 93 adjustments to gold prices, with 64 hikes and 29 reductions throughout the year.
Further developments will be closely monitored as the world economy sees an increased demand for gold, raising questions about how this will affect Bangladesh's gold reserves.
