A brave 13-year-old boy swam for four hours in the rough seas to rescue his mother and two younger siblings, after they were swept away by strong winds.

In a remarkable act of bravery, a 13-year-old boy from Western Australia saved his family by swimming for four hours in treacherous waters after his mother and two younger siblings were swept out to sea.

The incident occurred on Friday evening off the coast of Quindalup, approximately 250 kilometers south of Perth. The family, on vacation, had been using an inflatable paddleboard and a kayak when a strong gust of wind carried them away from the shore. The boy initially tried to return to shore in the kayak but was forced to abandon it when it started to take on water.

Undeterred, the young hero swam for four hours, braving the wild waves, and finally reached the shore, where he alerted authorities to the situation. Marine rescue teams later found the 47-year-old mother and her two children, aged 12 and 8, clinging to the paddleboard, 14 kilometers off the coast.

Marine rescue commander Paul Bresland praised the boy's effort as "miraculous," noting that the child had removed his life jacket after two hours, continuing his swim without it for the next two hours. The mother and children were rescued at 8:30 PM local time and were brought safely to shore, where paramedics provided them with initial treatment.

The bravery and determination of the 13-year-old boy were credited with saving his family’s lives, with local police inspector James Bradley calling the boy’s actions "nothing short of heroic."
