At least 28 people have been injured in Jordan over the past five weeks after debris from drones and missiles fell from the sky amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. The information was confirmed by a senior security official and reported by Roya News.
Colonel Amer Al-Sartawi, spokesperson for Jordan’s Public Security Directorate, stated during a press briefing that all injured individuals sustained minor injuries and were later discharged after receiving medical treatment.
He also reported that the ongoing tensions have caused damage to 59 homes and 31 vehicles, along with 16 incidents affecting government property.
According to Al-Sartawi, most injuries occurred when individuals approached or attempted to handle falling debris. He warned that gathering at impact sites poses serious risks and can obstruct the work of security forces.
Authorities have urged parents to ensure children stay away from unidentified objects and to promote safety awareness at home. Citizens have also been advised to strictly follow official safety guidelines.
Jordan has played a significant defensive role during the ongoing conflict, intercepting Iranian drones and missiles that pass through its airspace or pose a potential threat to its territory. However, the government has emphasized that these actions are primarily aimed at protecting national sovereignty and the safety of its citizens.
In a recent statement, the Jordanian military said that nearly 300 missiles and drones had been launched toward its territory since the conflict began. Military spokesperson Mustafa Al-Hiyari reported that 281 such projectiles were detected, of which 261 were successfully intercepted and destroyed by the country’s air defense systems.
