Bangladesh Exports Surge 11.2% in January to $4.41 Billion
Strong performance in the garment sector fuels a significant rise in Bangladesh's exports for January 2026.
Exports from Bangladesh saw a notable increase in January 2026, climbing 11.22% from December to reach $4.41 billion, driven primarily by stronger shipments in the garment sector. In December, the country had exported goods worth $3.96 billion. This growth comes despite challenging global trade conditions, showcasing the resilience of Bangladesh's export industry.
For the period from July to January of the fiscal year 2025-26, the total export value stood at $28.41 billion, a slight dip from $28.96 billion during the same period last year. The decrease highlights the impact of ongoing global trade challenges on Bangladesh's overall export performance.
The ready-made garment (RMG) sector, which continues to be the backbone of Bangladesh's exports, generated $22.98 billion during the first seven months of FY2025-26. This marked an impressive 11.77% year-on-year growth, reflecting the sector's ongoing strength and dominance in global markets.
