As part of the JF-17 deal, Bangladesh Air Force strengthens defense cooperation with Pakistan, acquiring Super Mushak trainers.

In a major step towards modernizing the Bangladesh Air Force, the country is set to receive Super Mushak MFI-17 training aircraft from Pakistan as part of the ongoing JF-17 Block III fighter jet deal. This agreement further strengthens defense ties between the two nations.

Sources confirm that as part of the JF-17 acquisition process, the Bangladesh Air Force has requested the urgent delivery of Super Mushak trainers, a request to which Pakistan has promptly agreed. As per the terms of the deal, for every three JF-17 jets, one Super Mushak trainer will be supplied without any additional cost.

Under this arrangement, the Bangladesh Air Force could receive between five to six Super Mushak trainers for a single JF-17 squadron. If the country eventually acquires up to 48 JF-17s, it could potentially receive up to 16 Super Mushak trainers, significantly enhancing pilot training capabilities and operational readiness.

In addition to the JF-17, the Bangladesh Air Force is planning to acquire various other defense assets, including Eurofighter Typhoon from Italy, J-10CE from China, T129 ATAK helicopters and ANKA drones from Turkey. The objective is to build a robust, multi-layered air defense system through advanced radars and missile systems.

Experts emphasize that this modernization effort is not aimed at any particular country but is focused on enhancing Bangladesh’s ability to safeguard its airspace, critical infrastructure, and national interests.
