Germany will resume arms exports to Israel only if conditions are met

Germany has announced the lifting of its ban on arms exports to Israel. Starting from November 24, the country will resume sending weapons to Israel. However, Germany has stated that this decision will depend on the Gaza ceasefire being upheld and the provision of large-scale humanitarian aid.
Germany says it has lifted the ban on arms exports to Israel due to a stable ceasefire in Gaza and recent diplomatic progress.
German government spokesperson Stefan Cornelius stated that the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has been in effect since October 10. He added that efforts for sustainable peace and increased humanitarian aid in Gaza also influenced this decision.
Cornelius noted that each arms export approval will be assessed on a case-by-case basis in Berlin.
Another government spokesperson emphasized that the current ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is the main basis for this decision. They added that all parties are expected to comply with the ceasefire agreement, ensure its maintenance, allow large-scale humanitarian aid to continue, and guarantee that the process proceeds in an orderly manner according to the agreement.
Previously, on August 8, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had ordered a halt to military equipment exports to Israel due to the Gaza conflict. Berlin imposed the ban after Israel announced a full-scale ground operation and suspension of aid deliveries to Gaza.
Meanwhile, the European human rights organization EISCHR has alleged that Germany’s arms exports violate international agreements, particularly the Geneva Convention on the Prevention of Genocide.
