Hajj Flight Fare Reduced; Flights to Begin on April 18
Bangladesh’s national airline, Biman, prepares for the upcoming Hajj with reduced flight fares and increased capacity.
The Hajj flights for this year are set to begin on April 18, 2026, with Biman Bangladesh Airlines fully prepared to transport Hajj pilgrims using its own aircraft. In a bid to ensure smooth operations, the airline has given top priority to the Hajj flights, while the Ministry of Religious Affairs is actively involved in overseeing the preparations.
Biman will operate these flights using Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft. A total of 78,500 pilgrims are expected to travel this year, with Biman handling 39,200 of them, while Saudi Airlines (Saudia) will carry the rest. Pre-Hajj flights will operate until May 21, and return flights will commence on May 30 and run until June 30. Pilgrims will be transported from Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet.
This year, the fare per Hajj pilgrim has been reduced by 12,990 Taka, making the Hajj experience more affordable. Despite the reduced fare, Biman expects to remain profitable by carrying regular passengers alongside Hajj travelers on the Dhaka-Jeddah route. Only 5% of the flights will be dedicated to Hajj, with the remainder carrying regular passengers.
Additionally, three Hajj packages have been introduced, offering different levels of accommodation and services, ranging from the special Hajj package with luxurious accommodation close to the Haram in Makkah to more budget-friendly options.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has emphasized that all Hajj agencies and airlines must strictly follow the guidelines set by the Saudi government and ensure the smooth execution of the pilgrimage.
