Israeli forces have killed a Palestinian child and assaulted worshippers during a raid on the village of Al Mughayyir, located east of Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank.
According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli forces entered Al Mughayyir from the al-Khalayel area early on Friday and opened heavy live fire toward residents. During the operation, a 13-year-old child was shot dead.
WAFA further reported that after Friday prayers, Israeli forces attacked worshippers as they exited the western Al Mughayyir mosque. Stun grenades and tear gas canisters were fired at the crowd, causing panic and injuries among civilians.
The village has been facing repeated attacks by illegal Israeli settlers, often under the protection of Israeli forces. On Friday morning, settlers stormed the al-Khalayel area south of the village, fired live ammunition in the surroundings, and carried out assaults targeting residents and their property.
According to Palestinian figures, Israeli forces and settlers have killed at least 1,107 Palestinians in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, since October 2023. Nearly 11,000 people have been injured, and around 21,000 Palestinians have been detained during the same period.
In a landmark advisory opinion issued in July last year, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
