Israeli settler attacks torch homes and cars in West Bank, causing casualties
The Chronify
Israeli settlers set fire to Palestinian homes and vehicles in several parts of the occupied West Bank late Saturday, wounding at least three people and adding to a broader surge in settler violence across the territory. The attacks were reported in al-Fandaqumiya and Seilat al-Dahr, south of Jenin, as well as in Masafer Yatta near Hebron.
In al-Fandaqumiya, settlers were reported to have stormed the village, set homes and cars ablaze, and damaged other houses by smashing windows as residents tried to put out the fires. In nearby Seilat al-Dahr, several homes were targeted, attempts were made to burn them, and one resident was physically assaulted and wounded. Verified video from the scene showed flames spreading inside homes as residents scrambled to contain the damage.
Further south, in Masafer Yatta, two Palestinians were reported wounded when settlers entered the area under the protection of Israeli forces. Three other Palestinians were arrested during the incident. Separate attacks were also reported in Qaryut and Jalud, south of Nablus, where vehicles and property were damaged, while settlers were also said to have thrown stones at Palestinian cars near Haris, Rawabi Square and Tuqu.
There was no immediate public statement from the Israeli military on the Jenin area attacks. The incidents took place during Eid al-Fitr celebrations and come amid growing concern that violence by settlers has intensified under the cover of wider regional conflict.
The latest attacks fit a wider pattern documented in recent weeks. A United Nations human rights report said more than 36,000 Palestinians were displaced from the West Bank in the year to late October 2025 amid settlement expansion and increasing violence by settlers and Israeli forces. The same report recorded 1,732 settler attacks over that period and said many took place in a coordinated manner, often without effective accountability.
Violence has continued to climb this month. Recent reporting said settlers had already killed at least five Palestinians in the West Bank after the Iran war began on February 28, while aid and rights groups warned that roadblocks and movement restrictions were making it harder for ambulances and residents to respond quickly to attacks.
