Kolkata YouTuber Arrested on Charges of Sexual and Mental Abuse

Shamik Adhikari, a social media influencer and popular YouTuber from Kolkata, has been arrested on charges of sexual and mental abuse. The accused allegedly detained a young woman at his flat, where he physically assaulted and raped her over a period of several hours.

According to reports from Indian media, particularly Hindustan Times, the victim was reportedly kept locked in Shamik's flat from the night of February 2 until the evening of February 3, 2026. The victim claims that she was not only beaten but was also repeatedly sexually assaulted during this period.

On February 4, the victim filed a case of physical abuse and sexual harassment (GD) against Shamik. Based on her complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed at the Behala Police Station on February 5, with the case falling under the provisions of Indian Penal Code sections 127(2), 7, 4, and 351(2).
 

Following the FIR, Shamik went into hiding with his parents, but after a police manhunt, he was arrested from Dumdum. During the court hearing on February 6, 2026, at Alipur Court, multiple injuries were found on the victim's body. As a result, the court ordered Shamik’s police custody for 10 days until February 16, 2026.
 

It is worth noting that the victim was previously known to Shamik, as she was a friend. Police are currently investigating the full details of the incident, and the victim has agreed to give a secret testimony in court.
