Sudan Gurung, a leader of Nepal’s Gen-Z movement, has announced that he will participate in the upcoming national elections. He stated that preparations are already underway to build a nationwide supporter base under the “Movement for Change” initiative. Regarding the previous government, he remarked that they have pushed young people into politics and described the ousted leaders as selfish and corrupt.

Sudan Gurung stated that if the political establishment wants the kind of politics seen so far, “we will contest the next elections and will not back down.”

The Gen-Z leader believes his party is ready to govern the country. Volunteers have already begun forming committees nationwide, and he emphasized that his party is working to listen to every Nepali citizen.

He clarified that they plan to contest the elections as a political party, not as independent candidates. Gurung explained that running independently would not harness the collective strength of youth  together, they are stronger.

Regarding the upcoming elections in March, he expressed that he does not want to see old political leaders continue in power and demanded accountability for corruption and civilian killings.

When asked if he aspires to become Prime Minister, Gurung said, “I don’t want to claim I’m the right person for that yet, but if the people want me, I will certainly stand as a candidate.”
