As part of the United States’ 250th Independence Anniversary celebrations, the U.S. Treasury has released a draft design of a special $1 coin honoring former President Donald Trump. The mock-up features a profile image of Trump along with a raised fist a pose symbolizing determination, inspired by a historic photo taken after the July 2024 attack.

According to a report by CNN, the U.S. Treasury has recently unveiled a draft design for a special $1 coin to honor former President Donald Trump, as part of the United States’ 250th Independence Anniversary celebrations.

The front of the coin features Trump’s profile with the word “Liberty” above and the years “1776–2026” below. The reverse side shows Trump with a raised fist a symbolic gesture of strength. This pose was inspired by a photograph taken by AP journalist Evan Vucci in July 2024, shortly after the assassination attempt on Trump.

The draft image was first shared by U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach in a post on X (formerly Twitter) and later officially released by the Treasury Department.

Under current U.S. law, placing a living person’s image on currency is not permitted. However, the Treasury has described the draft as a powerful reflection of the nation's history and democracy.

A Treasury spokesperson stated that despite the government shutdown, the country has become “stronger and more prosperous” under Trump’s leadership heading into the 250th anniversary. While the design has not been finalized, the draft has already sparked widespread public and political debate.
