Fujairah is one of the Gulf’s most important bunkering centers and a major outlet for the UAE’s crude exports. Reuters reported that the emirate handles about 1 million barrels per day of Murban crude, equal to roughly 1 percent of global oil demand.
The disruption came after a drone incident and subsequent fire forced the suspension of some oil loading operations on March 14. Reuters reported that the fire was linked to debris from an intercepted drone, while the Fujairah Media Office said one Jordanian citizen was injured.
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, which operates in the emirate, did not immediately respond to requests for comment, according to Reuters.

Why this matters:
Fujairah sits outside the Strait of Hormuz, which makes it strategically important during periods of regional tension. Reuters reported that the port is a critical hub for crude, fuel storage, and marine bunkering, with the Habshan Fujairah pipeline helping the UAE export oil without relying fully on the strait.
