The prime suspect, Onik, has been apprehended, and a total of 19 individuals are now in custody.

The brutal murder of 28-year-old worker Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh has led to the arrest of 19 individuals, including the prime suspect, Onik. Dipu, employed at a garment factory in the district's Bhaluka area, was beaten, burned, and hanged from a tree in a shocking act of violence.

According to Mymensingh District Detective Police, Onik, a 20-year-old knitting operator, was arrested on December 31 in the Charag Ali area of Gazipur. The authorities stated that Onik hanged Dipu's body from a tree using a rope before setting it on fire. Onik had been working at the same factory as Dipu since February this year, but after the murder, he went into hiding when the incident sparked nationwide outrage. He was eventually tracked and arrested after being identified from video footage of the event.

The murder occurred after Dipu was accused of religious offense on December 18. This accusation sparked tension in the area, and when a crowd gathered outside the factory, Dipu was forced to resign. Later, he was brutally beaten to death by the mob, and his body was hung and burned near the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.

The police have apprehended 12 other suspects in connection with the incident, and the arrested individuals are being held for questioning. Among those arrested are key personnel from the factory where Dipu worked, including floor in-charge Alamgir Hossain and quality in-charge Miraz Hossain, as well as other workers involved in the crime.

In the latest development, six more individuals were arrested late on Wednesday night, bringing the total number of arrests to 19. These individuals have been granted two-day remand orders for further interrogation.

The victim, Dipu Chandra Das, hailed from the Mokamia Kanda village in Mymensingh's Tarakanda Upazila. He had been employed at Pioneer Knitwears (BD) Limited for the past two years.

The police are continuing their investigation into the murder and are identifying other individuals involved in this heinous crime.
