9-Year-Old Huzifa Dies from Injuries After Being Shot by Arakan Army

Huzifa Sultana Afnan, a 9-year-old girl from Teknaf, has passed away after being shot by the Arakan Army along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border.

Huzifa Sultana Afnan, a 9-year-old girl from the Hoikyang area of Teknaf, has tragically passed away after being critically injured by gunfire from Myanmar’s Arakan Army. The incident occurred on January 11, 2026, when Huzifa was struck by a bullet near the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in the Rakhine State.

 

According to Khokon Chandra Rudra, the in-charge of the Hoikyang police station, Huzifa succumbed to her injuries at 9:50 AM on February 7, 2026, at the National Institute of Neurosciences in Dhaka, where she had been undergoing treatment for 27 days.
 

After the shooting, Huzifa was immediately rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital's ICU, where doctors confirmed the bullet had entered her brain. She was later transferred to Dhaka for advanced care. Despite all efforts, she passed away in the hospital.
 

This tragic incident highlights the continuing cross-border violence and its devastating impact on innocent civilians, especially children.
