Army's Special Operation in Agoiljhara Leads to Drug Dealer Arrest

A drug dealer has been arrested in Agoiljhara, Barisal District, during a special operation by the Bangladesh Army, which seized yaba and cannabis from his possession.
A special operation conducted by the Bangladesh Army in Agoiljhara, Barisal District, led to the arrest of a drug dealer along with a significant haul of illicit substances. Based on confidential intelligence, the operation took place on Sunday, January 25, 2026, around 8:30 PM, by the 62 East Bengal Regiment under the 6th Infantry Brigade, at the Agoiljhara Army Camp in the Gailla Union of Agoiljhara Upazila.
During the operation, the Army detained 20-year-old Sajol Gharami, a suspected drug dealer, from his residence. Preliminary investigations revealed that he had been involved in the sale of small quantities of drugs from his house for an extended period. During the search, the Army recovered nearly 100 grams of cannabis, 63 yaba tablets, and various drug paraphernalia used for consumption.
Fortunately, there were no casualties during the operation. The arrested drug dealer was handed over to the police at Agoiljhara Police Station, and legal proceedings under the Narcotics Control Act are underway.
Lieutenant Colonel Faiz Ahmad, Commander of the 62 East Bengal Regiment, emphasized the Army’s strict stance on combating drugs and assured that such operations would continue to ensure law and order and public safety in the country.
